Recently Bags on Board® has changed its view on the biodegradability of its pick-up bags, due to information released from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) that discourages the composting of pet waste. In order for plastic products to claim they are biodegradable they must also be compostable, as a requirement established by the ASTM for Compostable Plastic (American Standard Test Method). Since pet waste should not be composted (at the recommendation of the EPA), Bags on Board® pick up bags are also not biodegradable. 

Our products are found in various retail distribution channels, so there may be packaging that states “biodegradable” as well as our new product packaging that does not. Our new message encourages Pet Parents to pick up after their pet and to dispose of waste properly in a trash bin.
